From seed to shipment: the product journey

A product image introduces the goods, but a sound supply relationship also depends on information that a photograph cannot show. Variety, intended use, actual lot, packaging and delivery conditions need to be discussed together.

Understand the product before the price

Clarify whether the request concerns seed for sowing or a commodity for food or feed. The intended use determines which technical questions and documents are relevant. A variety name is a useful starting point, not the complete specification.

Connect the lot with its records

Labels, analyses and other supporting documents should be matched to the lot being offered. If a sample or inspection is requested, agree its purpose and timing before the shipment plan is finalised.

Plan packaging and handling

Confirm bag size, total quantity, labelling and any destination requirements. The packing list and the physical goods should be consistent, allowing the shipment to be understood and checked more easily.

Coordinate the shipment information

Delivery point, preferred timing, transport documents and payment documentation need to be considered as part of one plan. Written confirmation helps keep commercial expectations aligned as the product moves from preparation to shipment.
